A full child health and immunisation service is available to all children under five. Appointments are sent out via the Child Health Department computer system so please ensure you notify your health visitor or reception of any changes of address etc.
PLEASE ENSURE YOU ATTEND THESE APPOINTMENTS TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS IMMUNISED AND PROTECTED.
Travel Advice And Vaccinations
Our Practice Nurses can give a wide range of travel health advice as well as the necessary travel vaccinations. Please make an appointment to see the nurse at least four weeks before you travel. Asthma, Diabetic, Heart And Blood Pressure Clinics
The practice holds regular clinics for the management of patients suffering from asthma, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. All aspects of these complex conditions are monitored. Appropriate advice and treatment are given where problems arise and referral to specialists will be arranged when required. The clinics are run by the practice nurses in conjunction with the doctor.
Women aged between 25 and 64 years, are routinely screened. Smear tests are done at regular intervals in keeping with NHS guidelines.
Both our Practice Nurses are trained advisors. If you are a smoker and wish to give up, then our Nurses will give you all the support you need & monitor your progress regularly.
You can pick up leaflets and access support groups. All the information you need is available to pick up at the surgery.
A variety of minor surgery procedures are undertaken at the surgery to avoid the long waits for treatment at the Hospital. etc.
The NHS Health Checks are offered to patients aged 40-74 years and who are have not currently been diagnosed with any chronic diseases i.e. Kidney Disease, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Asthma, or those who may have had a stroke as these patients will be monitored regularlly. This provides the opportunity for both men and women to have a general health check including a simple blood test and the Practice Nurses will give you lifestyle advise - regarding diet and exercise.
Sexual Health And Contraceptive Services
These services are tailored to all ages, genders and sexual preferences. We aim to provide a free, confidential and holistic approach to sexual health and contraceptive needs. We offer:
1.Sexual health check including screening for sexually transmitted infections and HIV testing
2. Confidential contraceptive advice and supply
3. Health promotion, pregnancy testing and services including referral for termination of pregnancy
4. Confidential support and advice for the under 16s
5. Chlamydia screening for patients aged 15 to 25.
Young people aged 16years and above can come and speak to one of our Nurses regarding issues pertaining to their age and lifestyle. They will also be invited to attend a Nurse appointment during school holidays, to ensure that they complete their course of immunisations before leaving school and also have a private chat about sexual health, smoking, contraception and a healthy lifestyle.
The NHS remit does not cover certain services and consequently your doctor is entitled to make a charge in line with the BMA scale of fees to cover the costs of providing a particular service. Such might include certain medical examinations eg HGV licence, employment medicals, driving insurance etc, as well as certain certificates eg private medical insurance claims, private sick notes, holiday cancellation etc.
